SPAIN, PROVINCE BY PROVINCE
The registry you're asked for, province by province
The first thing that stops an owner isn't the price: it's not knowing what they'll be asked for. And in Spain that isn't decided by the State but by each autonomous region. Here are all 50 provinces with their region's registry.
50 provinces · 17 regions
What you're no longer asked for anywhere
Until May 2026 there was also a single national registry, with codes starting with ESFC. Spain's Supreme Court annulled that procedure (judgment 620/2026 of 19 May) because the power belongs to each autonomous region. If you have an ESFC number, keep it: it still identifies your home, but it is not the one that binds you.

Is there a single registry for the whole of Spain?
No. There was one on paper until May 2026, but the Supreme Court annulled that procedure because the power belongs to each autonomous region. Today the registry that binds you is your region's, which is why this page is grouped by region and not as a flat list of provinces.
Do my province and the next one ask for the same thing?
It depends on whether they are in the same autonomous region. Jaén and Almería do, because both are Andalucía. Almería and Murcia don't, even though they are neighbours. That is why you'll find your province inside its region's block, with the registry that applies to it.
Does the number I already have still work?
If it is your region's, yes: that is the one that counts. If it starts with ESFC it is from the old national registry; keep it, because it still identifies your home, but it is not the one that binds you today.
Besides my region's registry, can the town hall ask me for something?
Yes, and this is what most people miss. In several regions you need a municipal report or licence on top of the regional registry, and in Catalunya the process starts at the town hall itself. Your province's page spells it out.
Why publish this if you are a booking portal?
Because Regulation (EU) 2024/1028 requires us to show your registration number and verify it. Without it we cannot publish your place, so it is in our interest that you get it, and get it right. What you read here comes from each administration's own site, with the link so you can check it yourself.
